- I am having troubles connecting at 28.8 from my home (which I just moved
- into). The computer/modem used to connect at 28.8 at my old home. The
- only difference that I can see between the two locations is that my new
- telephone is being fed via a SLC96 (Subscriber Loop Carrier) system
- whereas my old location was a straight copper pair into the telco central
- office. A friend of mine says that neither SLC96 nor SLC5 (a enhanced
- SLC96 system) has the necessary bandwith (as stated in the V.34 protocol)
- to achieve a 28.8 connection.

- Is this true?
-
- Thanks,
-
- Frank.
